The 5 Foods I Eat Every Day to Feel Better
Nov 14, 2025When it comes to nutrition, most people overcomplicate things. The truth is, you don’t need expensive “superfoods” or complicated recipes to feel good, have more energy, and keep your body working well.
Instead, I focus on a handful of foods every single day that support my health, performance, and mood. Here are the five foods I eat every day (and why you might want to as well):
1. Protein – for strength, recovery and satiety
Protein is the building block of muscles, but it does so much more than that. It helps keep your metabolism strong and, importantly, keeps you fuller for longer so you’re not constantly reaching for snacks.
Examples: chicken, fish, eggs, Greek yogurt, or even a quick protein shake.
2. Healthy Fats – for hormones, brain and joints
Your body needs fat — the right kind. Healthy fats help regulate hormones, protect your joints, and support brain function. Without them, you can feel sluggish and your recovery may slow down.
Examples: avocado, olive oil, nuts, seeds, or oily fish like salmon.
3. Fibre – for digestion and blood sugar balance
Fibre isn’t glamorous, but it’s essential. It helps keep digestion regular, balances blood sugar (which reduces cravings), and supports heart health.
Examples: oats, whole grains, beans, lentils, and plenty of vegetables.
4. Fruit – for antioxidants and recovery
Fruit delivers a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that support your immune system and help your body recover from stress, workouts, and everyday life. The natural sweetness is also a great way to satisfy cravings without heading for biscuits or chocolate.
Examples: berries, apples, bananas, or whatever’s in season.
5. Dairy – for bones and gut health
Dairy provides calcium and other nutrients that support bone strength. Fermented options like yogurt and kefir also feed your gut with beneficial bacteria, which can boost digestion and even mood.
Examples: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, or kefir.
By building my meals around these five foods, I know I’m fuelling my body with what it needs to perform, recover, and feel better every single day.
