One week in...how's it going really?

Jan 08, 2026

We’re about a week into the new year now.

The excitement has worn off a little.
The fresh-start energy has faded.
And suddenly, willpower feels… harder.

This is the point where most people start to question themselves.
“Why is this already difficult?”
“Why don’t I feel as motivated as I did on day one?”

Here’s the truth: this is normal.

The early buzz of a new year is driven by emotion. But real change doesn’t come from excitement — it comes from discipline. And discipline isn’t about being strict or perfect. It’s about showing up even when you don’t feel like it.

Especially on the days you're tired or it's cold outside.
Especially when motivation is low or hormones are making themselves known.
Especially when no one is watching.

This is where progress actually happens.

The mistake many people make right now is trying to change everything at once. New workouts, new food rules, new routines, new habits — all layered on top of a busy life.

Instead, do this differently.

Pick ONE thing.
Just one.

Work on that one habit until it feels automatic — then move on to the next.

Not ten things.
Not a full life overhaul.
One.

And make it easier by using habit triggers.

A habit trigger is something that reminds you to do the thing without relying on willpower.

For example:

  • Put your supplements next to your toothbrush so they’re taken without thinking

  • Leave your workout clothes out the night before

  • Move the biscuits away from the teabags so snacking isn’t automatic

  • Keep fruit where you can see it, not hidden in a drawer

Small changes to your environment remove the need for constant self-control.

And finally — remind yourself of your why.

Not the surface-level one like “I want to lose weight.”
But the deeper reason.

Why does this matter to you?

  • To feel more confident?

  • To have more energy?

  • To be healthier?

When motivation dips, your why is what brings you back.

You don’t need to be perfect this week.
You don’t need to feel excited.
You just need to keep showing up — one small habit at a time.

That’s how this becomes sustainable.
That’s how this actually sticks.

Keep going. You’re doing better than you think.
